Proposition One
Teachers are committed to students and their learning.

We serve them.

I believe that every student has the potential to succeed when given the right support and opportunities. In my classroom, I strive to create an environment where every student feels seen, heard, and valued. For instance, one of my students, who had struggled with reading comprehension, thrived when I incorporated her love of art into literacy lessons. By designing assignments that combined storytelling with illustrations, I saw her confidence and skills grow. This experience reinforced my commitment to meeting students where they are and building on their strengths to help them reach new heights.

Make it stand out

In 2024, I adapted an activity to align with our poetry unit by integrating artistic components into writing assignments. This adjustment was particularly beneficial for my visual and hands-on learners, who showed increased engagement with what is traditionally a writing-heavy curriculum.

Each day, we explored a new type of poem, answered comprehension questions, and crafted our own versions of that poetic style. While many students thrived with the writing focus, some learners found it challenging to stay motivated. To address this, I introduced a creative element: students compiled their poems into personalized booklets, illustrating each piece themselves. This approach not only sparked their interest but also significantly increased participation and investment in the project.

The activity concluded with students writing and illustrating their poems, as well as composing short biographies inspired by famous authors we studied. By incorporating visual arts into our lessons, I witnessed a transformative impact on engagement, demonstrating how adapting to students’ strengths can foster deeper learning and connection.

Make it stand out.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
